The return of Don Lothario indicates the beginning of a period which brought some decisive changes to all the sims in the neighbourhood. It has nothing to do with Don, he only happened to return just in time.
Don Lothario

When Don Lothario returned to Pleasantview everything was different. He had been gone for a long time but somehow he had never thought about the others moving on with their life.

Matthew, being among the first neighbours who visited him after his return, crushed his hope to revive his affair with Nina. There was an immediate dislike between those two sims and Don could not understand what Nina could possibly see in that man. It sounded like she was happily married though. He could hardly believe that she was a mother of two children.

When he walked back into the house Matthew still remained outside for a moment together with Marisa Bendett, another visitor.
'I only know rumours', she said, 'but that man looked rather disappointed when you told him about your marriage'.
Matthew could smile about this. That there had been other men in Nina's life before was not new to him, but he was confident that she was faithful and he did not see any threat to their marriage in the reappearance of Don. He thought that Don was an idiot and if Nina was looking for an affair there would be other sims in the neighbourhood he should be more worried about.

Marisa had no reason to hold a grudge against Don. She heard about his break-up with Cassandra right before the wedding and she did not approve of his behaviour, but he was friendly and sociable and she thought that he was not such a bad guy.
Don cheered up again when he sat in the whirlpool with her. She was a very good looking woman and although she was married too, he learned from her that many people had moved to Pleasantview and the surrounding area since he left. Don was still planning to rekindle some of the old flames, but if that would not work there was at least the chance to light a new one. Among those new neighbours there had to be some single women interested in a romance and if they were only half as good looking as Marisa it was something to look forward to.

His mood took a downward swing again when he tried to flirt with Darleen, the wife of Darren Dreamer, who had arrived shortly after his other guests. He did not even think she was very attractive (she was one of those boring family types), but it irritated him that his charm did not work on her. He had never doubted his ability to be charming and get every woman he wanted.
It was true. Everything was different now. His efforts only annoyed Darleen, who eventually stopped his approaches by saying: 'The next time you try dancing with someone, you should practice it first'. This really hurt Don's pride and he was glad when Darleen left shortly after.

The next day he decided to go shopping and went Downtown, where he met Jerome, the husband of Cassandra. That Cassandra was now married to someone else was good news. He had been a bit worried that she was still angry and with the influence her family had in Pleasantview it could have made it hard for him. After all, this had been the reason why he had left the town after their break-up.
Jerome was an easygoing sim and Don soon felt familiar enough to tell him a few things about his former life in Pleasantview including his affair with Kaylynn. He did not know if Cassandra had ever found out about it and he was not sure if it was a good idea, but Kaylynn was another girl he was hoping to see again and he saw a good chance to inquire about her. Jerome looked like the kind of guy who would be acquainted with a lot of his neighbours.
Jerome found his stories entertaining but could not help him with respect to Kaylynn.

It would not have been necessary to disclose his affair to Jerome, because after Don had shopped for some clothes he met Kaylynn in the pool hall nearby.
He hardly recognised her at first, her hair was different and he had always only seen her dressed as a maid (or not at all). He walked up to her, smiling, to greet her and was almost immediately confronted with an argument. She asked him what he was thinking, coming up as if he had never been away, when he had disappeared without a word before or during the entire time of his absence. He had not taken into account that she would of course hear about him and Cassandra after he left. She had believed that he would eventually propose to her and he had done nothing to change that, never telling her about his engagement.
'Did you expect I would sit here and wait for your return?', she asked.

Kaylynn had once loved Don Lothario very much though and after he had given her a lot of pleading and sad looks, telling her that she had been one of the reasons why he could not marry Cassandra, he felt that she was beginning to soften. He was sure that giving her a bit of time she would like him as much as she used to.

Don had not misjudged Kaylynn's feelings and as happy as she was living with Enrique and their child, when she was talking to Don, Kaylynn realised that she had not completely overcome her love for him. Under different circumstances he would have probably managed to start an affair with her again, but then his attention slipped for a moment and he made a move that destroyed any chance to get back together with her.
He was playing pool, when this woman walked past and she was stunning, he had never seen anything like it. He was afraid she would leave before he had a chance to talk to her and he was so keen to get to know her that he did not check if Kaylynn was still present.

Actually, he thought that she had left and so he did not see a danger in flirting with the other girl, who was called Gabriella.
He could not understand why Gabriella reacted so negatively, but before he could reflect much upon it, Kaylynn suddenly turned up behind him, furious and shouting.

'You have not changed one little bit! I was close to believe you when you talked to me a minute ago, I should have known better!' This and more Kaylynn was shouting, while she was slapping him with the full force that genuine rage could produce.

This was not the end of it. As soon as Kaylynn let go of him he was slapped again, this time by a sim he had never seen before. Reed Haggerty had only been at Gabriella's house once and they never really had an affair. He did not like to see someone else flirting with her though.
'I have to tell Brandi about this when I get home, she will love this story', Maurice thought while he was watching the scene.

Meanwhile Kaylynn and Gabriella observed and commented Don's suffering. Gabriella's jokes about him made Kaylynn forget her anger - at least for the moment - and she joined into the laughter.

Understandably Don did not feel like staying downtown much longer, so he called a taxi and went back home. His self-confidence had been badly bruised since his return, but Don tried not to let it bring him down.
'I don't care what anyone else is thinking, I know I am HOT', he thought. 'And I'm a good dancer', he continued. But the fact that he had to tell himself showed that for the first time in his life he had doubts about his greatness, proving that the reaction of his neighbours was not without effect on him.

He had expected to fill the first pages of his diary with more positive thoughts, but after quickly scribbling down the events of the last days, he ended up reflecting upon the past and comparing it to the present situation.

He remembered the good times he had with Nina and how he taken it for granted then.

He remembered the evenings sitting in the whirlpool with her and her sister Dina, being the centre of attention. How much fun they used to have!

Don was not prepared to give up yet and indeed the following days were not as bad as the first. Pleasantview was much more populated now and he saw a lot of good looking women around. After a few successful flirts Don began to trust in his charm again.

Don used to work in a hospital but he had never liked the medical career. On his return he applied for a job with the local football team. That's how he met Gilbert, who had also been taken on only recently, and they got on immediately.
From Gilbert, Don heard a bit more about Nina and what had happened to her after he moved away. They soon found out that they both used to have an affair with her, but they did not see each other as rivals. Gilbert confirmed that there was not much chance of Nina becoming unfaithful to Matthew. 'Don't ask me why', he added.
'What about Dina?', Don asked.
'I only met her a few times', Gilbert replied, 'but I know a few people who are friends with Malcolm Landgraab and she is married to him. They have a child, that's all I can tell you. It's rumoured that she married him mainly for the money, but I don't know if it is true or not.'
Dina had called Don a few days ago and invited him downtown. He was on his way to work and they had only talked for a short while.

Don was wondering if Dina's marriage was as happy as Nina's when he got distracted because he suddenly spotted Kaylynn walking past the house. He had just gotten out of the whirlpool and quickly ran up to her. She looked a bit startled when he appeared in front of her and threw a quick glance at the bin that was lying on the pavement with the trash spread out beside it.
Since their encounter downtown he did not find Kaylynn half as attractive as he used to, but did not want to be enemies with her. He apologised several times, telling her what a stupid idiot he was and how sorry he was for hurting her.

Seeing that he had no intention to change his way of life had killed the love that Kaylynn felt for him until then. When she returned home after meeting Don in town, Enrique had greeted her with a tender embrace and they had spent the rest of the evening together teaching their little daughter to talk. This was the type of life she had dreamed of.
Still, Don seemed to feel genuinely sorry and he did not make any moves at her, so when he asked her after a while to join him and Gilbert in the whirlpool she agreed and stayed with them for a few hours.

Actually they had an enjoyable evening (Don was not interested in Kaylynn anymore, which proved to be a good basis for them) and he managed to renew their friendship. But the following day he already stumbled into the next trouble.
Ivy had lived in Pleasantview as long as he could remember and when he returned they became friends. She was another sim that he did not find in the least attractive, but when she invited him to an outing he flirted with her for no particular reason other than habit maybe.
He should have been warned when Mortimer (who still disliked him) turned out to be a member of their party, but who would have expected that he had an affair with this young woman?
Don thought that Mortimer was a miserable old git for making such a scene when she had not even responded to his flirting (or had - negatively) and he tried to stay out of their way for the rest of the evening.

Don felt that it might be better if he started to meet women at his own place, especially since you could always retreat to the bedroom if the chance arose. He quite fancied this woman he had met in town one day and after calling her a few times he invited her to his house after work.
After dancing for a while (although he believed that Darleen had only wanted to be insulting, he had practised after watching some of the other sims when he went out to a club), Viola restored his confidence that he could still have a good life in Pleasantview despite the jealous scenes he had run into since his return. In fact, falling out with Mortimer more than he had already did not bother him too much. The Goths were still the richest family in Pleasantview and were closely entangled with its history, but he did not think they were that influential anymore.
Even if he did not get to woohoo with Viola that evening, the development of their relationship looked promising.

After the incident with Mortimer, Don did not run into any more difficulties and he found that his life was improving.
He and Dina had talked on the phone a few more times and he invited her over shortly after Viola's visit. Dina told him that she loved her husband and was very happy with him. It did not seem to stop her from having an interest in him though.

Don had always liked Nina better, because he was an active sim and Dina's laziness could be tedious. It did not look like he and Nina would become friends again though, and apart from being lazy, Dina was entertaining and sociable. She showed quite openly that she was interested in an affair, something else that Don appreciated about her.

Not long after they went into the house, Don showed Dina his bedroom and they stayed there for the rest of the evening.
Dina fell asleep for a few hours, but then Malcolm crept into her dreams and woke her up.

Don offered her to stay for the night, but she explained that she wanted to be home with her son. Malcolm would also begin to wonder if she was not in when he returned from work.
Don had no intention to break up a marriage (and may end up being tied to a woman unwillingly) and so he said goodbye to her with a long kiss. He found it a bit strange that Dina was looking for an affair while she appeared to be so happy in her marriage, but he could see the advantage for himself. He was sure that he and Dina had not met for the last time tonight.

Viola was the one he fancied most at the moment and when he invited her the next time, she got to see his bedroom as well.
Don began to think that Pleasantview was a much better place than it used to be. One difference he had noticed was the liberal attitude with regard to romance. The Pleasantview sims seemed much less inhibited; he felt affected by it himself.

It did not necessarily mean that there was no emotion involved and Don had the impression that Viola was getting very fond of him.

A few days later she invited him to an outing and Don became aware that he was very fond of her too. Viola appeared to have a lot of college friends and Don enjoyed meeting some of the students from Sim State University.

She was unattached, but Don did not fear that she was looking for a serious relationship, although he did not see the evidence for his assumption taking place behind his back.

As he had expected, Dina wanted to continue their affair and invited him to her place one morning.

He had enjoyed being with her the other night and was glad to have her as a friend. He had forgotten how cheerful (and well shaped) she was, a trait where she had the advantage over Nina.

This time she showed him her bedroom, where they inspected the underside of the blanket together. It took them a long time and it was already early evening and shortly before Malcolm, who was working different shifts now, was going to return home.
One of their discoveries was that they were in love.

When Don met Cassandra one day, she surprised him by being much more easygoing about his escape than her father. Like Kaylynn she did not appeal to him anymore and he wondered if this showed how little choice there had been at one time. Still, he was happy that she was not angry with him. He did not believe that they would become friends again, but he liked her and so he was also happy for her because it looked like she had found her true love in Jerome.

On a trip to town he came across Dina and Malcolm and Don decided to get acquainted with Dina's husband.

Dina had been trying on clothes and when she saw Don and Malcolm talking she wasn't sure if she liked that. Her worries were unfounded though, because Don was choosing his words carefully and did everything to give the impression that he and Dina had never been more than friends.

Having learned that it wasn't clever to flirt too openly, he checked if Malcolm was around before he said a tender hello to Dina.
'I really liked visiting you the other day. I hope we can repeat this soon.'

He did not have a shower before he went out and felt that he really needed a wash. Don thought that it was a bit stupid that the neighbours had become so relaxed with regard to romance but were still inhibited when it came to nudity. There were only very few sims around and nobody came in when he had a quick sponge bath in the men's toilet.

Don went downtown frequently and that's where he met Jan Tellerman. She came past his house only a few days later and he greeted her and asked if she would like to come in. There were other male romance sims who had given their affection to more than one woman, but apparently there was still demand. Jan did not waste time with polite conversation.

He had thought about inviting Viola (who remained his favourite) but spending the evening with Jan promised to become entertaining as well.
'Don't you want to come a bit closer?', she asked when he joined her on the couch. Apparently Jan was not embarrassed by nudity.

For her the living room was fine and Don discovered that it did not require a bed to have fun anymore. Actually it made a nice change to get a full view of your partner when you woohoo'd, in particular when it was someone like Jan, who made a very pleasant sight.

Don liked his position as a player and did not put much effort into his career. Getting into the first team was nice though and it was complemented with an equally nice bonus payment.

Kaylynn was a good friend now that their love had vanished and although he learned that she was less comitted to her relationship than he had thought, he did not think about flirting with her anymore. There were enough fish in the sea and he did not want to fall out with her again. She was one of the few sims who had known him for a long time.

His affair with Dina continued (as well as his affair with Viola) and they had some very nice hours together, when she invited him over when her son was asleep. Malcolm was working late again.

Don had no wish to change anything about the current situation, but he was very fond of Dina. She was thinking the same way as him and being with her was a nice mixture of friendship and a good woohoo.

He would have preferred to get out of the house before Malcolm returned because he really did not want him to become suspicious. He guessed that Dina simply enjoyed the woohoo as much as he did, but when he watched her together with her husband it was still a mystery to him why she was unfaithful. He believed to know her well enough to be able to tell that she genuinely loved Malcolm.

It was probably the reason why he was not worried about Dina seeing an old friend and Don relaxed, even falling asleep in her bedroom one night.

One evening another woman came past his house who he had also met briefly in town before. Her name was Sierra Hourvitz and Don admired her active approach. Sierra knew what she wanted and Don had the impression that he fell into that category. They kissed for the first time that evening and he was hopeful that more could develop one day.

Visiting town was always worthwhile, Jan was often seen there, and he met another woman called Jane again. Jane had been one of the sims in the group, when Viola had invited him to the outing. Don got a crush on her when they talked in the newspaper shop and thought about inviting her one day since she seemed to fancy him too.

Don was staring at the burning palm tree that had been struck by lightning a minute ago. He wasn't sure whether he should panic or not but then he got distracted and while he watched the fire slowly getting extinguished by the heavy rain drops he reflected about the time that had passed since his return. He had a bad start, but almost without noticing it he had settled in this town which did not have much in common with the Pleasantview as he used to know it anymore. While he was glad about the variety that came with the larger number of neighbours, Don would have liked to stick out more, but in general his life had developed much to his satisfaction. The lightning and the rain were an indicator that some time had passed since he came back. Don guessed that this awareness of time was a side effect of the change of seasons.
Don Lothario Pt. 2

It was autumn and Dina had invited him to come over to her shop - which she had recently reopened - one morning. She told him that she had really missed him in the last couple of days. Malcolm had time off work and he could not visit her at her place nor would they have much time if she came over to his.
Don was happy to see her too.

When he heard that she had kept the shop open all night, Don thought that she had to be a keen fortune sim to stay awake for such a long time. Dina laughed, when he said it to her. She did not deny that she liked comfort, but explained that the amount of coffee she had inside would last her for another day. When they sat down on the couch, he was nevertheless fully convinced of her business sense. She definitely knew how to turn him into a very satisfied customer.

His customer satisfaction increased in the course of the action. There was a magic atmosphere that morning and although he had slept peacefully in his bed and was refreshed and awake, it felt like they had been on a date all night. It was not that early anymore, but nobody apart from them appeared to be awake and the street was quiet and empty.

'That was quite exciting, if someone would have come closer they would have spotted us through the glass door.'
'Yes, maybe they would have, but they see the closed sign from the street and there is nobody around anyway. There weren't many customers in the shop anymore in the last two hours, it was a lot busier at night.'
Don had a match later in the day and Dina was beginning to feel the tiredness now, so they said goodbye and promised to meet again when they had the chance.

Don usually went downtown, but that evening, only a few days later, he decided to explore Bluewater for a change. He met Kaylynn, another sim (very beautiful eyes) named Sina and a guy called Edward O'Donnell and they all sat down to play cards. When he came in he spotted Ryan, the sim Kaylynn had told him about. He seemed to be quite popular with the women, but Kaylynn said that he wanted to be faithful to his wife now.

Later, it was already morning, Dina came in. Apparently she and Malcolm were thinking about buying this club, which had been owned by Malcolm before and she was having a look at the renovations which were recently completed.
Don greeted her warmly. When he looked at her face she appeared exhausted and when he asked her about it, she said that she had not been feeling too well in the last two days.

On his next visit to Bluewater he met Katie Moore and got a crush on her almost instantly. She wiped Viola from the top position which she had kept for a considerable time, although she and Don had not seen much lately. Maybe Don was too self-centred to develop a strong affection for somebody else, but Katie came very close to being his dream woman.

This impression increased when she invited him to her place the next day. They were in her bed within five minutes and Don felt that he might fall in love with Katie before the day was over.

He spent the entire day at her house. After their woohoo Katie had a bath and Don watched her for a few minutes before he decided to have a shower himself.

Later in the evening they woohoo'd again on the sofa. 'I absolutely must see you again', he said to her before he went home and she replied that she was looking forward to be invited to his place.

Don did not find autumn a worse time for socialising than the summer. It wasn't raining much and usually the weather was nice and sunny. It seemed to inspire many townie women to walk past his house and he did not have to call Jane to see her again. He did not recognise her at first because she had exchanged her long dreads for very short hair, but then he came out of the house and greeted her. Once more Don discovered that too many romance sim females were still unsatisfied. Jane's suggestions weren't hard to understand.

Not only did he meet new women regularly, Don felt that lately he had met a lot of very appealing ones. Jane looked great with her new style and she attracted him only slightly less than Katie. So far the reason for not seeing more of Viola had been mainly lack of time since he also liked to go out after work. But his latest acquaintances were so interesting that he wondered if he shouldn't concentrate on them in the near future.

His friend Gilbert shared his experiences with some of the women and with regard to Katie Don slightly regretted this. He realised that he had only seen Melissa, the woman Gilbert was living with, once before and the next time he invited him he asked if he would like to bring her along. Maybe Gilbert was not too happy to take his girlfriend to his friend's house, because Don was about to regain his former reputation, but at least on the outside he did not let it show and said that they would be glad to see Don. If he had reservations, they were justified because Don found Melissa very attractive. He saw no reason not to flirt with her since the times had changed and a romance sim like Gilbert should be easy about it, furthermore Melissa appeared to like the diversion from her steady lover.

Most of the evening he spent in the company of both though. He had not seen Gilbert for some time and he wanted to keep his male friends as well.
Gilbert told him that he really enjoyed being with his daughter and that he was glad she existed although Melissa and he did not plan to have a larger family.

After Don had started playing for the Pleasantview team he discovered that Matthew used to be one of its stars and when they talked more he changed his opinion about him. He quite liked Matthew now. One day he invited him back after work, hoping that they might become friends, but in the beginning he did not get to talk to him much. Jan came round and he did not want to send her away. She had also changed her style recently and Don, who had thought that she was good looking before, found her irresistible. She remarked that they had not seen for too long a time and while Matthew discreetly disappeared into the house, Jan and Don celebrated their reunion in the hot tub.

After that Don did not feel inclined to say goodbye to Jan and he suggested that she might stay on, so that they would have some time together after Matthew had left.
They all went back into the whirlpool and he chatted with both of them. Don had enough affairs and was not desperate to get in contact with Nina again, and Matthew seemed pleased to see him with another woman.

His guests were hungry and Don cooked some spaghetti for all. While they were eating Matthew told him about the children and Carlo and Pepita's puppies and Don was able to get a glimpse of his family life. He began to understand why Matthew and Nina were married. Matthew really wasn't such a bad guy and although he was not blind to others, he appeared certain about the woman he belonged to and who belonged to him. He did not glorify Nina, but this was exactly what convinced Don that Matthew truly loved her. Apparently their sons were very fond of their mother too. It sounded like they had a good life together.

When Matthew left, he turned his attention to Jan and fell in love with her after some flirting and kissing.

Jan asked him if he would like to relax in the hot tub again and Don thought this to be a very good idea. 'You always sit so far apart, don't you want to come over here to my side?'
'I only wanted to get a good look at you. You really look great with your new style, very sweet.'
He had seen enough though and slid over into her arms.

He enjoyed being with Jan so much that he asked her if she would like to stay overnight.

In the early morning he got up with her and said goodbye to her with a romantic kiss.
'I give you a call soon', he said, 'I promise'.

Don could not imagine a better lifestyle than the one he had now, but as much as he liked female company, he also wanted to have male friends, especially when they were in his team like Gilbert and Matthew. Don remembered meeting Dustin when he was still a teenager, because he had been at Brandi's house once when he was working in the same hospital. He inquired about his mother and after talking for a while Don invited him back home.
Dustin hesitated at first because Charlene was alone with their son, but when he called her she said that he should have a good time.

Don got on really well with him and when they got fed up with their water balloon fight he asked Dustin if he would like to go to town for a few hours.

They headed to the Lulu Lounge which proved to be a good idea. Gilbert was there and Matthew and also Viola, which pleased Don a lot. The morning with Dina in her shop had been an exciting experience and at the moment he could not get the idea out of his head to woohoo in a public place again. The right woman for it was there already, he just would have to wait until the whirlpool wasn't occupied anymore.

Matthew had changed his opinion about Don as well and they had recently become friends. Dustin had gotten himself a coffee and was talking to some neighbours, so Don had a conversation with Matthew.

Then he told Dustin that he would like to spend the rest of the evening with Viola and although Dustin stayed on they were doing their own thing. There was a really good atmosphere that night. He was dancing with Viola, watching the couple next to him at the same time. He did not really know Lauren, but her attraction to this guy called Darryl was pretty obvious.
Don was in a splendid mood and so he had approached her earlier to give her some encouragement. 'Go on talk to him. He keeps looking at you too, I'm sure he would like to meet you.' Lauren had done so and from that moment on they had not really separated anymore.
In the meantime it had begun to rain, but the whirlpool was still occupied and Don was considering to invite Viola back to his place and forget about woohoo in public.

That the whirlpool was not a good place for it became clear only a moment later. The rain had developed into a thunderstorm, but because they were in the warm water it had not bothered the sims sitting in the pool. None of them thought about the water - or rather their bodies sticking out of it - attracting the lightning. Suddenly a bright white light struck right next to the club and when Don ran out he saw that it had in fact hit Matthew who came crawling out of the whirlpool all burned and covered in soot.
'What was that!?!', he exclaimed but before he could say more the lightning struck again and Matthew collapsed and died.

The other guests could not believe what had happened and they were in a state of shock when the grim reaper arrived. Don was sad because he and Matthew had only been friends for such a short time, but mainly because he was thinking of Nina and what this would mean to her. He still cared about her, even though they had not seen in ages and he was by now convinced that she was happy with Matthew. Had been, if he wouldn't do anything.

He would have to at least try to change this and so Don took a heart and approached the grim reaper. 'I want to pledge for this sim. He's my friend but I want to pledge in the name of his wife. Please don't take him with you. He has two sons and the whole family would be heartbroken. He is too young to go.'
The grim reaper explained that pledging was not enough and that Don would have to gamble to win Matthew's life. With those words he held out his hand and there was a blue light in his palm. 'This is Matthew's life. Choose carefully.'

Don was sure that the light was in the right hand and he wondered if the Grim Reaper had tricked him. However, he picked the wrong one and all that remained of Matthew after the Reaper had left was a grey gravestone with his name. The thunderstorm wasn't over but sims were already getting in the whirlpool again, apparently unaware of the tragedy that had happened.

Or not. Aemon had witnessed the scene with the Grim Reaper but it did not occur to him that the whirlpool was a risky place.
'What an idiot', Don thought and a second later the lightning struck again.

The drama repeated with Aemon. He got out of the whirlpool, still wet and the lightning struck again. It was early morning when the Reaper arrived for the second time and then Dustin took it upon him to plead for the life of a friend.
'He is cheating', Don whispered in the direction of Gilbert, 'he's going to take him as well'.

But Dustin chose with confidence and did indeed pick the right hand. The Reaper looked disappointed, but he accepted that he had lost and released the blue light which disappeared into Aemon's lifeless body.

Don was depressed - for losing a friend as well as for losing to the Grim Reaper - when he came home and he slept for most of the day (Viola had gone home after the tragedy with Matthew). When he got up he was still depressed. Inviting Katie would be a good way to cheer up. That Katie liked him she had shown before, but when she came over it appeared that she was developing stronger feelings for him.

Those feelings were returned when they got engaged in the bedroom. A girl like Katie could make him think about a long term relationship, but from what he had heard there was a lot of competition.

He would have liked to stay in bed with Katie all night, but he had a sad duty to fulfil. He called Dina and told her that he had to see her urgently in an important matter. When she arrived he told her about Matthew's death. 'Look, I guess that the police has informed Nina, but I don't know how these matters are handled. If they don't know about Matthew's death then she might still be waiting at home for him. I got the gravestone, I took it with me. I want you to bring it to Nina and tell her what happened. I don't want to do this after I haven't seen her for such a long time. I'm not even sure if she would let me come over.'
While he was talking, he noticed that Dina still looked ill, but maybe it was the sadness about those news.
'I dread having to tell her. She sometimes pretends that it is only the good sex, but I know her and she loves.. loved Matthew a lot. I have no idea if she can cope with this loss.'
'I'm sorry I can't ask you to stay, I have a guest, but come in for a minute.'

Inside he introduced Dina to Katie and then talked some more about the events at the Lulu Lounge.
'I really tried, I am so sad that I failed to save his life. You must tell Nina that me and everybody else who was there would have wanted to bring him back.'
